Bass Communion is a Steven Wilson solo project producing textural electronic music in a free-form/ambient/process vein. Although this music avoids direct rhythm, it
often features a surprising use of melody. The results have been compared to Labradford, Oval and Paul Schutze, among others.
Bass Communion music is made almost entirely without the use of synthesizers, relying instead on sampled source material (often from live performances). Collaborators have included vidnaObmana, Naseer Shamma, Robert Fripp, Muslimgauze (Bryn Jones), Jonathan Coleclough, Fear Falls Burning, Theo Travis and Colin Potter. This project produces limited-edition releases on a fairly frequent basis, which sell out very quickly.
